This toolpost was specifically designed for the TURNADO LATHE, AMERICAN BRIDGEMILL, PATRIOT VFD and MILL TURN combination machines. It has a 4 position ratcheting and locking turret which can be operated by the A axis of your machine. The stepper motor is cabled specifically for the Gecko 540 drives.
This toolpost can be used on earlier machines as well, but it may require some minor adaptations to attain proper center height. Also earlier machines which use the 7 amp CNC system will require the stepper motor to be wired for that drive system.
The turret operates by rotating past 90 degrees then reversing to lock in position. Each turret is slightly different so you will need to do some tests to set the steps per degree for your toolpost in the Mach 3 motor tuning files. Once this is done you can write your programs to move the turret to any one of the 4 positions.
This toolpost can be adapted to other brand machines as well. The turret rests on a steel mounting plate with an indexing key. The plate can be machines to lower the turret to meet any center height or shimmed to raise it. The key can be machined to fit other T slots. The stepper motor can also be rewired to work with other control systems.
In standard configuration, the distance from the bottom of the mounting plate to the bottom of the tool slot is 3.125" and the tool slot is .74". The mounting plate is 4.5" X 6.5" and 1 1/16" thick. The key is 14 MM ( 9/16") wide.
